Season Synopsis: 1977 would see the corps makes its first visit to national championships with Drum Corps International, which was in Denver, Colorado. The corps was 109 members strong with an average age of 15, the youngest being 12.  The Innovations in Brass program touted the corps as having “established themselves as one of the best corps in the Class A field… winning an additional 12 first place awards (in 1976).”  For 1977, the program bragged the Bluecoats had won both the American Legion and VFW state championships and taken first place in 8 of 12 contests so far that season.
