Season Synopsis: The Bluecoats returned to the field in 1980 after only one inactive season. The corps debuted a new logo and on the field with a new uniform, described in a 1980 news article as: “United Nations blue cadet jackets, trimmed in black and silver, black trousers and skirts and black and silver shakos complete the new look.”  Unstated in the news article was that it was a team of corps “moms” who made the uniforms and not a uniform company.  The corps was listed at 44 brass, 36 guard and 27 percussion, with members coming as far away as Mansfield (about 60 miles from Canton).  A March draft to the members of the summer schedule showed 15 contests, including the American Legion national championships a week after Drum Corps International Championships.  A June 1980 news article had the schedule pared down to 12 contests and 8 parades. The corps did not attend the American Legion National Championships.  The same article stated the members represented 16 senior and junior high schools and six universities.
