Season Synopsis: The 1994 season stands as a unique one for the organization, as a couple of unusual events happened during tour and radically different uniform accouterments.  For the first time in corps history, Innovations in Brass was not held outside.  And in one of the few occasions it was also not judged. The corps hosted Star of Indiana’s inaugural efforts to create a different drum corps event off the field, with an inside Brass Theater (before it would be remade as Blast!).  Throughout the season a movie production company visited with cameras to film a documentary of the corps.  The hopes were to launch a major motion picture about a 1991 Bluecoat member who returned from service in Iraq with a partial foot, using the documentary as a way to build audiences. While the movie never got off the ground, the 1994 corps enjoyed a robust tour schedule of 32 shows in Drum Corps Midwest, Drum Corps East and DCI, including feature performances at home in Canton for Pro Football Hall of Fame events.  The uniform accouterments? The simple white sash that had adorned a Bluecoats uniform for all but three years of its existence was replaced with an overlay of three colors to give the sash some panache.  It was dubbed “jazz sash” and lasted just this one season.  Musically, the corps continued its move away from big band stylings and investigated the bluesy side of the Duke. While most of the show showed off more subtle jazz stylings, it finished with a resounding, toe-tapping, shout chorus of C Jam Blues and kept the top 12 tradition alive of repeating the previous year’s finish.  In eight DCI Championship appearances, the corps had now finished 11th, 11th, 8th, 8th, 11th, 11th, 9th and now 9th again.
