How do I register to audition?

Click here to access our registration form.

Audition Fee: There is a non-refundable audition fee of $35.00 (cash, check, MasterCard, or Visa).   You can pre-pay your Artistry IN BLUE Audition Fee online to save yourself time at the workshop/audition.

What should I wear to auditions?

Clothing: Please wear black, comfortable clothing, (i.e. shorts, boxers, tights, dance wear, etc.)

Footwear: Should be dance shoes or bare feet, we must be able to see your ankles and feet.

Hair: Should be up or back and out of your face.

What do I need to bring?

Equipment: Flags will be provided. If you are planning on auditioning for a weapon spot, you will need to bring your own weapons.

What is the difference between Audition and Workshop?

The Audition/Workshop serves two purposes; it provides an opportunity for individuals who want to audition for the Artistry IN BLUE Winter Guard to demonstrate their skills. As a Workshop, it allows members from local Color Guards and/or individuals to come learn and gain new skills.

Do I need to be a member of the Bluecoats to be in Artistry IN BLUE

No. Artistry IN BLUE is a separate ensemble under the Bluecoats umbrella. AIB is open to anyone between the ages of 13-23.

What will the Audition/Workshop be like?

We will introduce you to our movement and equipment technique. Everyone will learn a dance combination and a flag routine. If you plan to audition on a weapon, you will also be taught a short routine on that piece of equipment.

If I’m auditioning, when will I know if I made the guard?

On the day of auditions one of the following will occur:

  1. You will be offered a spot.
  2. You will be asked to return to the 2nd audition date/callbacks, with detailed information on how to improve for the callback.
  3. You will be given detailed information on how you may improve for an audition next year.

Where will we rehearse?

All rehearsals will be held in the Canton/Akron area.

When do we rehearse?

We are in the process of finalizing our rehearsal schedule and it will be handed out at auditions. We typically rehearse approx 10 – 12 hours a weekend. This gives our members the chance to have a portion of the weekend to work, study, or play! If you have a conflict with attending church, please inform the director. Church conflicts can be handled on an individual basis.

What will it cost?

Details on dues will be given at the audition date above. There are multiple fund raisers throughout the season to assist in payment of dues.

What Regional(s) will Artistry in Blue attending?

We are still putting the final calendar together and will have full details at the audition.
