Bluecoats 2019 April Camp Weekend
THIS WEEKEND WAS A BUSY ONE FOR BLUECOATS AS THE BLUECOATS DRUM CORPS HAD ITS ONE AND ONLY FULL CORPS CAMP, RHYTHM IN BLUE HAD REHEARSAL, AND BLUECOATS OPERATED ITS WEEKLY FRIDAY EVENING BINGO GAME!
At the Bluecoats’ one and only full corps camp of the season, the percussionists were welcomed back for the first time since January and the color guard was all together for the first time this season. This weekend served as a final callback audition for the color guard with the final roster being set on Sunday afternoon. Every section of the corps was hard at work learning and practicing new top secret music and choreography for the 2019 production.
Huge thank you to Bluecoats Alumni Council who sponsored the drum corps’ dinner on Saturday by providing delicious home-cooked foods! You too can help to #FeedBloo this summer by sponsoring a meal. Just email give@bluecoats.com if you’d like to donate towards feeding the drum corps! With spring training just a couple weeks away, there’s lots of ways you can help support Bluecoats 2019. The Bluecoats is looking for volunteers to help cook at spring training and on tour, and to drive a 15-passenger van and trailer or “Code: Bloo” - a modified ambulance and trailer that brings Bluecoats Merchandise to fans! Visit Bluecoats’ volunteer portal at https://timecounts.org/bluecoats to sign up to support the 2019 Bluecoats!
If you’re looking to support the Bluecoats you can also take part in the annual #movingINBLUE campaign as the 2019 Bluecoats move-in to Spring Training! A Spring Training launch includes hundreds of flights and ground transportation shuttles, moving three semi trailers, two coaches, a van, and an ambulance, and moving the entire Bluecoats organization office from Canton, OH to Marion, IN! Your contributions to the #movingINBLUE campaign will directly support the Bluecoats Spring Training efforts, including the costs of moving in the drum corps.
On Sunday the hornline headed over to Washington High School’s Paul L. David Athletic Training Center fieldhouse with the visual staff and designers for a visual block and top secret staging block. Performers unloaded the 2019 set and the designers started working on ideas for the 2019 production! Sustaining Members of The Shield will be getting first access to set and other show developments starting this week as a thank you for their ongoing support of Bluecoats. If you’d like to join The Shield to support Bluecoats and get access to exclusive content you can visit this page.
Over at Bluecoats’ Champion Event Center Rhythm IN BLUE, the Bluecoats’ alumni ensemble, rehearsed Saturday afternoon. The performers are gearing up to prepare for their summer performances! Visit the Rhythm IN BLUE Facebook page to stay updated on performances and activities. Also at the Champion Event Center, Bluecoats ran its weekly Friday evening Champion Bingo! Every Monday, Thursday, and Friday evening Bluecoats presents Champion Bingo. If you’d like to attend Bingo you can find more information on the Champion Event Center website and if you’d like to lend a helping hand, volunteers are welcome and should contact Genevieve Geisler.
To wrap up the weekend, the Bluecoats design team met for the final time before Spring Training begins in just a couple weeks. They’re hard at work creating a Bluecoats 2019 program that is sure to be unforgettable!
