Leadership Symposium

Two days of clinics & sessions teaching you to be a better leader! Dive into leadership sessions focused on Bluecoats’ core values: excellence, creativity, inclusivity, integrity, and collaboration. The leadership symposium is open to any students - not just conductors!

  • Dive into leadership sessions focused on Bluecoats’ core values: excellence, creativity, inclusivity, integrity, and collaboration. Take a performance masterclass from Bluecoats Scenic Designer Michael Raiford to focus on excellence, learn about the importance of inclusivity during group activities, get creative during an arts clinic. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be a leader.

    • Kickoff & Inspiration: Check-in followed by a welcome meeting and leadership presentations from Peyton Grunzke.

    • Team Building: Hands-on group activities focused on collaboration, inclusivity, and creativity.

    • Hang With The Bluecoats: Chat with performers of the Bluecoats during shared meal breaks.

    • Skill Development: Sessions on punctuality, performance excellence (with Michael Raiford), and personal action planning.

    • Community & Reflection: Watch the Bluecoats ensemble, then end the day with evening recaps before lights out.

    • Two days of clinics & leadership sessions

    • All meals during the camp (breakfast, lunch, dinner & evening snack)

      • We recommend eating lunch before you check in as lunch is not provided on check-in day

    • The residential package includes one night of overnight accommodation at the University of Mount Union on June 24.

    • Residential participants stay in University of Mount Union residence halls. Please note that most rooms are not air-conditioned — we recommend bringing your own fan.

    • Participants are given the option to choose a roommate during registration.

      • Roommates must be doing the same experience (ex. Performance Camp only cannot room with Four-Day Mega Camp Bundle)

      • Roommates must be of the same gender.

      • Roommates who are minors who wish to room with non-minors will need to complete a waiver before the Summer Arts Camp.

      Commuter:

Performance Camp

Two days of winds, percussion, color guard, and drum major performance clinics, culminating in a performance alongside the Bluecoats Drum Corps at the Bluecoats Opening Night Community Celebration. Parents - don’t forget to buy your ticket to the show!

  • Rehearse, eat, and perform alongside the Bluecoats! You'll spend time in rehearsal with the Bluecoats education staff, spend the weekend learning the techniques & materials that the Bluecoats learn, and you’ll get to hang out with the Bluecoats performers! This event culminates in a performance with the Bluecoats Drum Corps at the Opening Night Community Celebration.

    • Welcome & Immersion: Check-in, attend the welcome meeting, then visit Bluecoats sectionals and ensemble rehearsals.

    • Hands-On Learning: Participate in The Blue Way sectionals and joint ensemble sessions with Bluecoats performers.

    • Collaboration & Growth: Engage in dance/movement classes and leadership sessions led by Bluecoats staff.

    • Performance Experience: Perform with the Bluecoats at Bluecoats Opening Night Community Celebration.

    • Community & Connection: Share meals, snacks, and downtime with the Bluecoats while reflecting on the day’s experiences.

  • Marching band kids unite (yes woodwinds too!) You’ll spend the weekend learning the same warm-ups, techniques, and music that the 2026 Bluecoats learn at Spring Training! You’ll rehearse in the arc with the corps, get some behind-the-scenes rehearsal access, and even perform with the Bluecoats at the Opening Night Community Celebration!

  • Hop into the arc with the battery, pad with the 2026 Bluecoats on break, and learn from greats like Roger Carter and Tom Rarick. Your weekend experience even includes performing alongside the corps at the Opening Night Community Celebration. We’ll even throw in a brand new pair of IP Tom Rarick Signature Sticks!

  • Spend the weekend learning the same warm-ups that the 2026 Bluecoats color guard learn at Spring Training! Get behind-the-scenes rehearsal access, and perform alongside the Bluecoats at the Opening Night Community Celebration.

  • Live the life of a Bluecoats drum major for the weekend! Join us for two days of clinics, social time, Bluecoats rehearsals, and even an opportunity to conduct the 2026 Bluecoats! You’ll work with Bluecoats instructors, past Bluecoats Drum Majors, some of the nation’s best band directors, and even get a visit from the 2026 “Team Hands!”

  • Learn from leaders in music education, get a behind-the-scenes look at Bluecoats rehearsals, engage in meaningful pedagogical conversations, and meet other music educators as passionate as you.

  • Through our partnership with the University of Mount Union, attendees of the Music Educator Seminar will be eligible to receive one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. In order to receive the credit, attendees must complete a short reflection following the seminar.
