Planned Giving

Planning an estate gift is a beautiful statement of trust and appreciation for the educational and artistic leadership that Bluecoats strives to provide in our community. When you make a planned gift, you’ll join the Legacy Circle.

Donating to Bluecoats in your will, trust, or insurance will bolster the sustainability and longevity of our organization for generations. Donors who choose to make legacy gift are recognized in the Bluecoats Annual Program and receive invitations to annual events like the Tour of Champions: Akron and local concerts in the Akron/Canton region.

If you have arranged for a legacy gift, or for more information how to plan a gift, please contact us at give@bluecoats.com or by phone at (330) 433-9115.

Why make a planned gift?

Aside from certain financial benefits, a planned gift is a profound way to leave legacy or create a memorial. Often legacy gifts create deep meaning for the donor and leave a generations-long memory of their passion for the arts. Though benefits vary depending on the plan you choose, many of our giving options share these features:

  • An immediate federal income tax deduction for some or all of the value of the gift.

  • Elimination of capital gains tax at the time of the transfer, if the asset is in the form of securities or real estate that have appreciated in value.

  • Increased financial security for you or your heirs while providing meaningful support to Bluecoats.

  • Income for life paid to you and/or another beneficiary, such as your spouse or another family member.

  • Increased income if a gift is made to a life-income plan that produces a higher yield than the donated asset, which is often the case with securities.
