Rhythm IN BLUE heralds the Holiday Season around TOWN
While drum corps is only now beginning to start up again with audition season, the Bluecoats alumni-based ensemble Rhythm IN BLUE keeps playing all year ‘round. The week after Thanksgiving saw the group usher in the holiday season around the greater Canton area, keeping the Bluecoats in the public performance eye.
On November 29th, the group took the street corner in Orrville, Ohio, where the annual Home for the Holidays event brings hundreds of residents and visitors around the picturesque downtown area. This is Rhythm IN BLUE’s 5th year at the event.
Less than a week later, on December 5th it was Canton’s turn to bring the festive cheer as the annual Light up Downtown Canton event puts thousands into the heart of the city. Rhythm IN BLUE filled the basement “Speakeasy” of the Canton Brewery with a variety of holiday music to a lively crowd of all ages.
“We really enjoy these holiday events as much as we like being on the football field at a summer drum corps show,” said ensemble Director Jay Wise, “of the dozen or so events we play at throughout a year, these are among our favorites.” 1975 alum Tom Netting loves that they are still playing their instruments, “We are the Bluecoats year ‘round music ambassadors to the community.”
Rhythm IN BLUE is primarily comprised of alumni of the Bluecoats with invited guests and family, playing for over a dozen charitable and community events each year as well as the Bluecoats home drum corps shows.
