A New Mission, Vision, and Values
Over the last several years, we’ve spent a lot of time at Bluecoats reflecting on the kind of organization we’d like to be. We’ve examined our roots, celebrated our achievements, and worked hard on the things we can do better. So, as we enter the second 50-year chapter of the Bluecoats organization, it’s time to set our vision for the future, and work to create a Bluecoats that celebrates the value of performing arts education for everyone.
In alignment with this, we’ve created updated Mission, Vision, and Values statements to align with our vision for the future of Bluecoats.
Mission
Bluecoats creates performing arts experiences that inspire, educate, and promote excellence as we enrich the lives of young people, and those who encounter their art.
Vision
A Bluecoats Community enriched by a spectrum of programming, ranging from a student’s first experience with the performing arts to our world-renowned drum corps. Creativity, integrity, and personal development are emphasized in our constant pursuit of excellence.
Values
EXCELLENCE - We pursue excellence in everything we do, knowing that through that pursuit we learn the focus, resilience, and determination required to succeed at every level.
CREATIVITY - We value innovation, originality, and new ideas as we create cutting edge art that inspires awe, passion, and joy.
INCLUSIVITY - We continuously strive to create a diverse, equitable artistic space that celebrates individual expression while fostering a safe environment.
INTEGRITY - Responsibility, trustworthiness, and fairness are vital in all things - to our young people, amongst our staff, and in the creation of our art.
COLLABORATION - The achievement of creative, educational, and moral excellence is only possible when we all work together - from field to office to stands - to create a better, more cohesive whole.
