In a press release issued this morning, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 2019 halftime act for the NFL Hall of Fame Game, and it’s an act you might recognize! On August 1st, when the Broncos and the Falcons face off in Canton at the annual pre-season NFL game - the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps will entertain the crowd at halftime with their 2019 production The BLUECOATS!

“Each summer we leave Canton and take our show to audiences all over the United States. It’s so exciting that this year we get to bring something special to the most exciting event in our hometown!” said Mike Scott, CEO of Bluecoats. The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Bluecoats both share Canton as a hometown, and both organizations cite “excellence” as a core characteristic in their mission statements.

That mutual commitment to celebrating excellence extends beyond this year's halftime performance. The Bluecoats will also perform at pre-game with the Bluecoats Band of Excellence, a national honor band program operated jointly by Bluecoats and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and taking place over two days during Enshrinement Week at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“The Bluecoats are a great representation of values learned from the game – commitment, integrity, courage, respect, and excellence – that apply to all aspects of life. They are a source of pride for the Canton community and we are thrilled to feature them as the halftime performer,” Pro Football Hall of Fame President & CEO David Baker commented. Following the Bluecoats’ pre-game performance with the Band of Excellence, the corps will step off in front of an audience of more than 20,000 and perform a portion of the their much-celebrated 2019 production.

Bluecoats and the Pro Football Hall of Fame have worked carefully for months to plan the logistics of the visit and overcome the challenges of putting a 154 member ensemble on the field in the midst of a sold-out NFL game. “We’re very grateful to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Anne Graffice, and HOF Executive Producer George Veras for extending the invitation and helping to make this a reality for us,” said CEO Mike Scott. He continued, “I’m so excited to bring the Bluecoats home to Canton and to show this unique audience a bit of drum corps!”
