Kevin LeBoeuf Joins Music Design Team
Kevin LeBoeuf is joining the Bluecoats Design Team as a Music Designer. He joined the organization in 2023 as the Brass Caption Head, and will continue in that role alongside his new design responsibilities.
In his new role, he joins Music Designer Doug Thrower, Music Designer / Director of Percussion Tom Rarick, and Music & Sound Designer Dr. Matt Jordan to establish a powerhouse foursome of creators that will write and arrange the musical score for the world-renowned Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Jon Vanderkolff, the Bluecoats design team is made up of a first-class roster of creative pioneers in the marching arts activity. The team’s accolades include Tony winners, Emmy winners, and dozens of DCI, WGI, and BOA finalist, medalist, and championship seasons. You can meet the entire team here.
Doug Thrower, who has been teaching and writing for the Bluecoats organization in various capacities since 1992, will continue to compose the brass score, in collaboration with Kevin, Tom, and Matt.
From the very start of his time at Bluecoats, Kevin was contributing to the creative spirit of the corps. He has composed more than six encore tunes for the brass ensemble, including viral hits such as Welcome To The Bloo Pony Parade, Helenas, and Bluecoats’ recent collaboration with Courtney Swain of Bent Knee.
Before Bluecoats, Kevin was the Brass Caption Manager for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. After aging out of drum corps, Kevin was also on the Carolina Crown brass staff. He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Rutgers University and a graduate degree in wind-band conducting from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition to Bluecoats, LeBoeuf is on the music creative team and serves as the Brass Caption Head for the Aimachi marching band in Nagoya, Japan and has presented clinics throughout the US, Japan, and Thailand. Outside of drum corps, LeBoeuf is a bespoke sound system designer for theatres, restaurants, and listening rooms, most recently “42n Studios” in New York City, one of the largest vintage Mcintosh systems in the world.
Under his direction, the Bluecoats brass program has excelled to new heights, winning its first Jim Ott Memorial Brass Award (best brass) in 2024 and scoring a perfect 100 in achievement at the 2025 finals performance.
Registration for Bluecoats audition events and virtual auditions are open now at bluecoats.com/join. The corps will visit California in 2026, and return to Northeast Ohio in August for Innovations in Brass.
