Pamela Becker, Bluecoats Director At Large

Pamela Becker
Director At Large

Pamela Becker joined the Bluecoats Board of Directors in January 2025. She is an experienced fundraising leader whose career has focused on major gifts supporting education, basic science research, women’s health, and service dogs. Pamela currently serves as the executive director of a foundation based in the Washington, DC area that supports people and organizations in rural communities across the country. Her volunteer experience includes active involvement with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serving as a volunteer puppy raiser with her husband for Canine Companions.

Pamela’s love of drum corps began in childhood through her father and includes attending the first DCI Championships in 1972. She has followed the activity for many years, prioritizing attending shows and Finals, and has shared that passion with her daughter. Serving on the board allows her to contribute her professional expertise to help ensure the long-term strength and stability of the Bluecoats organization. Outside of drum corps and dogs, Pamela enjoys pottery and spends several days each week working in her studio at the wheel.

Pamela’s Favorite Bluecoats moment: “This one is hard. When it’s February and I’m really missing drum corps, I’ll watch videos of Tilt, which was the year I paid any attention to the Bluecoats. I loved last year being able to watch rehearsals at Mount Union at the start of the season and then see just how good and how beautiful the show became throughout the summer and at finals.”

Jarel Loveless, Bluecoats Director At Large

Jarel Loveless
Director At Large

Jarel Loveless has served on the Bluecoats Board of Directors since 2025 and brings a background in nonprofit fundraising and communications. He works as a nonprofit fundraising consultant, helping organizations build sustainable and manageable development programs, following an early career in journalism after earning a degree in the field. Across both roles, Jarel’s work has been grounded in strengthening communities and advancing mission-driven organizations. His nonprofit leadership includes a decade of service on the board of Memory Care Home Solutions, a cause that is deeply personal due to family experiences with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Jarel’s connection to music and drum corps began early, growing up in a family of musicians and music lovers and starting trumpet at age nine. After years of watching finals broadcasts and collecting recordings, he marched with multiple drum corps in the early 2000s and later found his way back to the activity through the Bluecoats’ commitment to diversity and inclusion. Serving on the board allows him to help ensure today’s members have an even better experience than his own, while supporting programs designed to endure well beyond any one tenure. Outside of board service, Jarel enjoys playing bass guitar, ice hockey, smoking meat, writing music, and exploring the surprisingly rich history of the sitcom ALF.

Jarel’s Favorite Bluecoats moment: “2003 - I’m a bit nostalgic because I enjoyed it many times thanks to the Drum Corps Midwest tour. When I heard the opening hit, I knew it was time to leave the bus and get down to the field for retreat.”

Tehvon Fowler-Chapman joined the Bluecoats Board of Directors in 2024. He is an advisor for nonprofit arts organizations and a former arts administrator, with a master’s degree in Arts Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. His professional expertise includes organizational strategy, financial management, and program development. Tehvon has also served in volunteer and leadership roles across the nonprofit arts sector, including brief service on the Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion board and early volunteer work with the Artist Relief Tree during the pandemic.

A Bloopit alumnus from 2012 and 2013, Tehvon’s connection to the Bluecoats and drum corps is deeply personal. Serving on the board allows him to support arts education and access while giving back to an activity that helped shape his youth. He values contributing to an ensemble known for excellence, innovation, and inspiration. Outside of his professional work, Tehvon is an avid bowler and baker.

Tehvon’s Favorite Bluecoats moment: “Too many. Criminal is the show that introduced me to drum corps. In terms of recent shows, I have to give it to Change is Everything.”
