BLUECOATS WELCOME JONI PEREZ, KEVIN FENSKE, KRIS HAMMOND, AND BENJAMIN PIERCE TO 2020 BRASS EDUCATIONAL STAFF. BRASS LEADERSHIP TEAM WILL RETURN, HEADED BY DEREK GIPSON.

Today Bluecoats is excited to introduce the brass educational staff for the 2020 season. Joining the team is Joni Perez, Head Band Director at The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, TX. She’s been Head Band Director there since 2010. Perez brings plenty of drum corps educational experience along with her to this role, having been on the brass staff at Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, and Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. We’re now thrilled to have her join our 2020 Brass Educational Staff as a brass instructor.

Also new to the team are Kevin Fenske, Kris Hammond, and Benjamin Pierce who all join us as brass instructors. Kevin Fenske has worked with The Woodlands High School and has won prizes at various regional, national, and international euphonium competitions; most recently he received a bronze medal at the 2018 Leonard Falcone Euphonium and Tuba Festival. Kris Hammond is a freelance trumpeter and brings along his drum corps educational experience from his time at Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Benjamin Pierce returns to the Bluecoats Drum Corps in this new role after marching with the corps from 2016-2018.

Derek Gipson returns in his ninth year as Brass Caption Head. Returning in advisory roles are Dave MacKinnon and Donnie Van Doren.

Other familiar faces we’re glad to be welcoming back to our 2020 Brass Educational Staff as brass instructors are Rick Brown, Bob Chreste, Aaron Dugger, Scott Dupre, Kristen Eck, Patrick Geren, Kevin Kwaku, Travis Pruitt, Aaron Rensenbrink, and Bryen Warfield.

Our Brass Educational Staff has been hard at work preparing for the 2020 season, and we can’t wait for auditions to kick-off this weekend in Texas!
