THIS SEASON MARKS THE FIRST USING OF A SPECIALLY-PRODUCED “PENNY” TO REPLACE THE COIN WHICH IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION.
Since the 1992 season, every Bluecoat has received a silver-plated U.S. penny minted during each year they performed with the corps. Suspended from a helmet chain link strung onto a blue shoelace, a “Pennies” necklace is a time-honored tradition at Bluecoats that binds our alumni across generations, and denotes how many seasons a Bluecoat has marched with the corps.

The Bluecoats Fellowship is an honors program for early-career designers in the marching arts. It serves as an incubator that expands access to the world of marching band, color guard, and drum corps design. The program includes a residency at Bluecoats Spring Training & mentorship with the Bluecoats design team.

Musical Adventures by Poppins Travel Company will highlight the educational excellence of the Bluecoats organization by featuring Bluecoats instructors at the new National All-Star Marching Band hosted at Walt Disney World® Resort in January 2027.
At the recent Annual Meeting of the Corporation, the Bluecoats Board of Directors elected Jeff Mlakar as the organization’s newest Director At Large. Jeff’s connections to the drum corps activity, leadership in higher education and technology, and passion for non-profit leadership and volunteerism makes him an excellent addition to our organization’s board and to our continuing commitment to our mission, vision, and values.
Today Bluecoats and JER announced the start of a creative partnership for Bluecoats’ SoundSport ensemble Rhythm IN BLUE. JER will be Rhythm IN BLUE’s Artist In Residence for the 2026 season.
The Bluecoats’ 2026 national tour is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons yet, featuring a long-awaited return to the West Coast and the beloved Bluecoats Summer Music Series back home in Ohio. From thrilling California performances to immersive educational events, this summer promises unforgettable moments for fans, performers, and music lovers alike.
Bluecoats and EN-RICH-MENT are accepting applications for the next leader of the youth education non-profit. The organization, founded in 2012 by Betty Smith, provides free after-school, weekend, and summer camp programming in music, arts, and life-skills.
