Monday Memory: Up and Coming Corps squashed by a bug?
In just the third competitive season after being officially formed in the winter of 1972, the Bluecoats were the talk of the town… and the nation. Operating in the lower division, known as Class A at the time, the Bluecoats were cleaning up. Newspapers were touting the corps as a “comer” ready to burst among the nation’s best.
Introducing the Bluecoats Annual Program
The Bluecoats Annual Program is a new publication that brings the Bluecoats story to our community. This 80-page publication is in part a program for our three Drum Corps International shows, in part an annual report of the Bluecoats organization, and in part a magazine celebrating one year’s worth of programming, leadership, and growth at Bluecoats. Monday Memory: Innovations IN BRASS through the years
This past weekend the Bluecoats hosted Innovations IN BRASS at the same location where the first show began in 1974. Hoover High School provided a lively stage for a drum corps show. As one of DCI’s longest running sponsored shows, Innovations has had a unique history.

Jeff Nelsen of Canadian Brass Visits Spring Training
Jeff Nelsen has been a performer in the Canadian Brass for more than eight years, and has a staggering resume of experience performing in the horn sections of dozens of orchestras including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, and the Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Montreal, and St. Louis Symphonies. In 2011 at Indiana University, Jeff gave a celebrated TEDx Talk about fearless performance and has since given Fearless Performance lectures to fellow TED presenters, teachers, athletes, and business people around the world. Professor Nelsen gave one such talk to the 2019 Bluecoats and students of THE BLUE WAY this weekend at the beautiful Phillippe Auditorium at Indiana Wesleyan University.
